Packing Shift Lead

Job Description

The Shift Lead is a critical part of the 24 hour manufacturing operation at in Banbury. Required to lead, coach, empower and develop their team they will ensure the team deliver sustainable results across the packaging section.

With responsibility and accountability for all aspects of Safety, Quality, performance (SQCDSM) and continuous improvement the Shift Lead will create and drive safety and quality through behaviours developing a culture of high action orientation, drive for results and continuous improvement.

The Packing Shift Lead will be committed to putting people at the centre of the operation. Acting with integrity at all times and recognising that sustainability of Safety, Quality, People and Production is driven through strong leadership aligned to a committed support to the teams. They will be able to combine a transformational (break through) mind-set underpinned with a relentless drive to be the best today.

Key areas of ownership:

  • Safety, Hygiene, Environment, Energy, Quality and Food Safety.
  • Apply established standard processes and procedures.
  • Ensure the recovery of near miss and the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Analyze Safety incidents immediately and implement short-term corrective actions.
  • Inform the feedback and follow up of process improvement actions or equipment.
  • Achievement of operational targets
  • Apply established standard processes and procedures. (MOS, BOS,Safety defects Kaizan RCA)
  • Contribute to the production schedule with the scheduler
  • Ensure the updating of OPS boards.
  • Inform the feedback and follow up actions for continuous improvement of the process or    equipment.
  • Ensure the development of associates through PDP (70: 20: 10, ...)
  • Develop an environment that drives the commitment of your team (impact sessions and Gallup action plan ...)
  • Anticipate and make a recommendation on the future skills needs of the organization
  • Be responsible for the staffing of their team and their correspondence to the established standard. (absence management …)
  • Coach team members daily on operational and personal development topics
  • Ensure quality feedback of information from and to the team

Qualifications

  • Experience and evidence of developing a team through building leadership capabilities
  • Strong communication skills at all levels of the business and able to demonstrate strong facilitation and meetings management skills
  • Able to apply LEAN tools e.g VSM, SMED, KAIZEN to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels across a wide variety of functions to achieve results.
  • Educated to Degree level or intellectually of Degree calibre
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in a manufacturing/supply chain job ideally within an FMCG manufacturing environment.
