Segment Controller (Finance Business Partner)

The business partnering experience you've gathered while studying for your CIMA or ACCA will prove vital in this role.

You'll have a high level of visibility in this role as you work closely with, and be involved in strategic conversations across finance and sales.

Your Excel skills will be called into regular action (don't worry too much about macros though), as will your analytical and problem-solving mindset.

 

The Segment Controller is responsible for ensuring effective management from a financial and controlling perspective, based on the company’s overall business strategy and the central and local Financial and Controlling policies and guidelines in place, in order to ensure maximization of return on sales and investment and effective management based on accurate (management) information in alignment with the KPI guidelines from the Principal company.

As an integral part of the commercial finance team the Segment Controller is responsible for partnering with key stakeholders to support the commercial decision-making process of the direct part of the business eg. Bidfood and Brakes. Following the launch of the exciting Pret Express concept, the Segment Controller will support the Pret Express team from a financial point of view. Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports. The Segment Controller will provide analysis to key stakeholders across the sales and operations teams within the Professional business unit.

Key responsibilities of the role:  

  • Implements and support the strategic plans for the direct customers and Barista station project based on financial implications of business developments. Provides input and prepares the annual operation plan for the customers and support the execution of activities according to this plan.
  • Ensures monitoring of business and financial performance by providing the Finance manager and organization with information, financial analyses and proactive advice, in order to ensure that business decisions are based on the correct and accurate information and considerations.
  • Drives the planning and execution of transaction processing, to be in line with the overall business and organisation development, aiming for efficiency and effectiveness improvements, in liaison with the Finance Shared Service Center.
  • Delivers a timely and adequate reporting and forecasting of consolidated P&L and Balance Sheet, within accounting rules.

Qualifications

Experience & Education:

  • Finance graduate and (partly) qualified accountant.

Must have:

  • Ability to work on own initiative / Proactive
  • Focussed on continuous improvement and automation
  • Ability to prioritise own workload
  • Good written and oral communication skills – ability to challenge & influence in a commercial environment
  • Able to communicate with people at all levels within and outside the organisation
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups, knowledge of databases)
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
  • Knowledge of SAP

Nice to have:

  • FMCG experience
  • Internal Controls, IFRS
  • Sales Force and BPC knowledge
